...

burglary and vandalism are crimes opportunity. Criminals know that boats are often left unattended for a long time, making them an easy target for burglary and vandalism. Imagine showing the boat on a beautiful Saturday morning looking forward to a great day on the water only to find that all the possession you stored on your vessel have been stolen or that the ship was seriously damaged, criminally or otherwise. It was a beautiful day just turned ugly very quickly. That's when you realize that, unlike your home or car, the boat is very vulnerable without being there to protect it.

to prevent crime is a national crisis for the boat owners throughout the United States. What can I do to help boat owners solve this problem? Style program for neighborhood watch would be a great start - fellow boat owners could then practice techniques for observing and reporting malicious activity. Unlike a neighborhood watch program, however, concerned citizens can not just knock on the door of your boat to inform you of theft or stolen property from your vessel. They can report it to local law enforcement, but there are some unique challenges with this:

Can a local law to come into contact with you?

If your boat is registered, the local authorities will have access to your address, however, the ship owners did not submit a phone number when registering their vessels. Herein lies the problem: law enforcement can only contact you in person or by mail, and if you are not registered at the address or if it's address is far from the ship, it could take several days or weeks for you to be achieved <. / P>

If a man boaters noticed any damage or suspicious activity in or around the ship, would you know?

Many boaters will be a gesture of goodwill reporting suspicious activity or criminal damage to local laws, however, it leaves you back at square one when it comes to getting that information to you in a timely manner. If you notice damage to fellow boaters or activity is not seen as criminals, there is almost no chance that information will be passed on to you. People will call the police to report a crime, but they rarely report the incident otherwise.

What can be done about these issues?

There is an organization offering a service that solves these issues for boat owners across America. Now look at the ship has developed a national ship registry where owners of vessels may (1) information about your vessel, (2) contact address and telephone number, and (3) how and when to contact them. Now look at the ship is a private, third-party intermediary for boat owners and personal information that the owner is not publicly available. When the law agencies and concerned citizens wanting to report damage and criminal activity, they (1) call toll free phone, (2) The report of the incident using the unique ID number of the vessel. I phone and ship ID # found on board the U.S. See decal the vessel owner adds to their ship. Then, when the incident was reported, Boat See United States corresponds to the number of vessels ID contact person and report the incident to the owners in advance directions.

Boat Watch USA has also developed programs for neighborhood watch style called "Boat Watch." This is a public awareness campaign to educate vessel owners on crime awareness and Ship Watch USA reporting methods. See also U.S. ship is to certify "Boat Watch USA Authorized" marinas and storage are in accordance with the "Ship Watch" program.
