Setelah beberapa hari lalu BosMobil.com memberitakan bahwa generasi Mitsubishi Evo akan di-stop produksinya, maka kali ini yang akan dibahas adalah siapakah penggantinya?

Pihak Mitsubishi sendiri belum mengumumkan siapakah penggantinya, tetapi yang pasti saat ini mereka sedang fokus pada pengembangan mobil listrik (Electric Vehicle). Bahkan saat ini pihak pabrikan menyatakan bahwa Mitsubishi I-MiEV telah dipilih dan resmi menjadi kendaraan operasional Pemerintah Negara Estonia. Rencananya, pihak Mitsubishi akan menyalurkan 507 unit I-MiEV ke Estonia dan menjadikannya sebagai rekor penjualan mobil listrik sejak pertama kali diluncurkan.

Pemerintah Estonia berharap dapat menurunkan kadar CO2 di negaranya dengan penggunaan Mitsubishi I-MiEV sebagai mobil dinas pemerintahan mereka. Selain itu, pemerintah Estonia juga akan dibantu oleh staf technical support dari Mitsubishi guna memantau penurunan kadar CO2. Diperkirakan 507 unit I-MiEV akan tiba di Estonia akhir tahun 2011.

Kabar duka datang dari Mitsubishi, Gayu Eusegi selaku Head of Global Product Development Mitsubishi mengumumkan bahwa Lancer Evolution X akan menjadi generasi Evo terakhir di muka bumi ini. Artinya pihak Mitsubishi akan men-stop seri-seri berikutnya dari Evo. Pihak Mitsubishi juga akan meluncurkan delapan mobil elektrik atau hybrid elektrik hingga 2015 nanti, dan memilih mengambil porsi segment pasar otomotif yang peka akan emisi CO2. Meskipun fans berat Evo di seluruh dunia sangat banyak, tetapi pihak Mitsubishi tetap percaya diri bahwa fans akan memahami keputusan sulit ini.

Namun pandangan lain mengatakan bahwa Eusegi telah mengubur gagasan akan mobil performa tinggi berorientasi hybrid. Pasalnya, sebelumnya sempat beredar beberapa ulasan tentang akan hadirnya Evo XI yang mengusung hybrid, dan banyak pihak yang antusias akan Evo berteknologi hybrid. Namun pada akhirnya semua gagasan dan harapan itu pupus sudah hari ini.
