Despite the addition of the frame - Jota Sport and spend 400 hours building a shellthat is 17 times stronger than the FIA is required - MX-5 GT weighs just 850 kg,compared with 1,165 kg road ready MX-5.
And the engine?
Under the hood is seriously tuned and tweaked 2.0-liter engine. Instead, 158bhpfour-cylinder engine now produces 275bhp. He also sits lower in the race, anddrives the rear wheels via a sequential six-speed gearbox.
Connect the low weight and surprisingly brisk performance, and the MX-5 GTapparently hit 60 mph from a standing start in three seconds dead, before pushingup to 160 mph.
There are nine rounds Britcar Championship, including rounds at Spa, but theseason starts in three hours enduro at Silverstone on Mar 26, 2011.
